The Swansea Bay Sea School project was originally set up by Justin Cotter and the other directors of the Break Free Foundation for the purpose of providing a range of water based activities and training for disadvantaged young people and other youth groups. It was intended to be run as a "Not For Profit" endeavour.
To assist with management and fund rasing, a registered charity Maiden Voyage, provided support to Swansea Bay Sea School and assumed the financial management of the project.
Due to a failure of confidence in the board of Maiden Voyage - Justin and the other founders of the original Swansea Bay Sea School project decided to distance themselves from the Maiden Voyage organisation. The original Swansea Bay Sea School project staff therefore formally withdrew from the umbrella of the Maiden Voyage administrative structure.
This decision was not taken lightly and followed a series of events which caused the Swansea Bay Sea School Project team a great deal of concern. Subsequently to this withdrawal of the Project from the Maiden Voyage umbrella, the chairman of the Maiden Voyage Board of Trustees has stated -"SBSS (*Swansea Bay Sea School) has no legal status and is a project of Maiden Voyage Ltd."
As such, all financial enquiries, claims or billing should be addressed to Maiden Voyage. Click here for their web page or click here for their entry on the Charity Commision website.
